Concorso Laura Orvieto

Thursday 11/11/2010 18:06

The jury of the Laura Orvieto Illustration Competition has selected the submission of Klaas Verplancke and 20 other illustrators, whose artworks will be exhibited at the Museo Archeologico in Bologna from 27 March to 30 April, 2011. The exhibition will include a catalogue by Giannino Stoppani Edizioni and Giunti.

To mark the centenary of Storie della storia del mondo (Stories of the History of theWorld) by Laura Orvieto, published for the first time by the Bemporad publishing house of Florence in 1911, the publisher Sergio Giunti (the heir and custodian of this prestigious publishing history) has sponsored an international illustration competition to select the illustrator for the centenary edition of the book. Illustrators around the world were invited to submit three new illustrations inspired by Laura Orvieto's text and measure themselves against classical art and the iconography of the classic that can be traced in the history of art and in the contemporary visual universe.
